OUR STORY
YEM was founded in Athens, Greece by two engineers after a trip to Lesvos, when the big wave of refugees overran the Greek island’s shores in December of 2015.
After Lesvos’ visit, they started their volunteering journey, taking several trips to refugee camps found across the Greek Mainland.
Years went by, and despite their efforts there was only so much they could achieve, and so they expanded their labors by founding YEM as a Non-Profit Organization in 2020.

Omar Alfatyan
Co-Founder
Omar is an IT Engineer from Baghdad – Iraq. He is a proud father of 3 kids.
He has soft spot towards kids, especially whom who are unfortunate to come from conflict zones and never had a say on their fate at the present moment, will always try to stand with them and be their voice to have a better future.
Naim Trabelsi
Co-Founder
Naim is from Tunisia and has a MEng. in Civil Engineering, PMP and PMI-RMP certified. He is a proud father of two kids. He has more than 15 years of Experience in Project Management, Training, Coaching, in the Construction and humanitarian fields.
Asma Hriz
Volunteer
Asma is finishing a Master in Humanitarian Action at the University of Malta and she is currently working as a Project Officer at a German Organization. By 2015, She started her professional experience with a focus on women’s & Human’s rights and migration where she held positions with UN Agencies and International Organizations in Tunisia, Libya and Malta.
Serina Abdel Fattah
Volunteer
Serina is a Medical Engineer from Palestine with a BSc and MSc in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering from London obtained by 2020.
She has research experience in both laboratory and educational institutes. She is a proud member of her community and has several years experience in volunteering at refugee camps in Athens, Greece and Amman, Jordan.
Sasha Meler
Volunteer
Sasha is from Iran living in Greece. She has a degree in international Business and TESOL qualification allowing her to teach English to young and old. Currently she volunteers time and translation skills to various NGO’s online and in Person.
